Stack Tester Qualification Testing


NOTE: Each of the exams (Groups 1-4) will have questions addressing basic principles of source testing including test site safety, sample transport and handling, proportional and representative sampling, calculations, common communications issues between laboratories and field testers, and basics of reporting including corrections for standard conditions and excess air.

 

During the exams, the candidate may use any written documents including copies of published test methods, test method support materials such QA Manuals, engineering manuals, calculation sheets with or without handwritten notes or reference tabs, or other technical reference materials.  The candidate is not allowed to use computers, including laptops, cell phones, Blackberrys, or other electronic imaging or communications devices during the exams.

SES QSTI Group Exams may include questions from the following methods.  Also, the exams may include basic safety questions derived from the SES Safety Manual. 

Group One Exam (first available March 2004):

Manual Gas Volume Measurements and Isokinetic Particulate Sampling Methods to include:

U.S. EPA Methods: 1, 1A, 2, 2A, 2C, 2D, 2F, 2G, 2H, 3, 3B, 4, 5, 5A, 5B, 5D, 5E, 5F and 17.

Group Two Exam (first available March 2004):

Manual Gaseous Pollutants Source Sampling Methods to include U.S. EPA Methods: 3B, 6, 6A, 6B, 7, 7C, 8, 11,13A, 15A, 16A, 26, 26A, 202.

Group Three Exam (first available March 2005):

Gaseous Pollutants Instrumental Methods - Methods 3A, 6C, 7E, 10, 10B, 20 and 25A (Methods 3A, 6C, 7E, and 20, as revised April 28, 2006).  Also included are PS2, PS3, PS4, PS4A, PS5, PS6, and PS7.

Group Four Exam (first available March 2007):

Hazardous Metals Measurement Methods to include 12, 29, 30B, 101, 101A, 102, and ASTM D6784-02  (The ASTM Method may be purchased from ASTM at  http://www.astm.org.)
